Lighting Designer - Freelance

Designed lighting for over 400 productions in the Pacific Northwest and beyond, including work with Seattle Repertory Theatre, ACT Theatre, Portland Center Stage, Intiman Theatre, Seattle Children's Theatre, Tacoma Actor's Guild, Empty Space Theatre, Tacoma Opera, Colorado Shakespeare Festival, and the American University in Cairo Egypt. With Spectrum Dance Theater and the Ririe-Woodbury Dance Company, designs for dance have toured the US, Mexico, Northern Europe, and Southeast Asia.

2007 - 2019 Seattle, WA

Production Manager - Seattle Children's Theatre

Twelve seasons managing productions for nationally recognized producer, presenter, and developer of professional Theatre for Young Audiences.
>    Managed over 80 productions in 12 seasons including 18 world premieres, presented productions from the USA, Canada, UK, and Iran, and touring productions that performed throughout Washington State and in Minneapolis, New York City, and Toronto.
>    Responsible for production budgets ranging from $2.3 to $3.4 million per season.
>    Responsible, with Managing Director, for negotiation of, and adherence to, collective bargaining agreements with Actor’s Equity Association, Stage Directors and Choreographers Society, United Scenic Artists IATSE Local USA829, and IATSE Locals 15, 488 and 887.
>    Responsible, with artistic staff direction, for hiring and managing project based directors, designers, dance and fight choreographers, music directors, specialty coaches, actors, and musicians.
>    Responsible for hiring and managing a team of 4 production shop managers responsible for a seasonal staff of 25 IATSE stage operations and shop employees, plus over hires as needed.
>    Responsible for hiring and managing Associate Production Manager responsible for casting, rehearsal, and performance support for productions and developmental workshops, management of production calendars, and stage management of marketing and development special events.
>    Responsible for hiring and managing Production Coordinator responsible for production management of Kaiser Permanente Educational Theatre Program tours and SCT Summer Season student productions, and tracking and pre-processing of production accounts (payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable).
>    Responsible for managing Company Manager responsible for artist travel and hospitality.
>    Responsible for managing up to $75,000 per season in production shop services for external clients including Intiman, Pacific Northwest Ballet and Seattle Center Productions.

1992-2007 Seattle, WA

Technical Director - University of Washington Dance Program

Lighting Design, Technical Direction, and Production Management for 50 productions which included premieres of 200 new works by University of Washington faculty, MFA candidates, and undergraduates, and reconstruction of 60 works of historical or artistic significance by the Chamber Dance Company, the resident professional modern dance company at the University of Washington. Trained student crews and stage managers, managed staff and over hire technicians, designed and implemented lighting, sound, rigging, scenery, properties, and media systems, and initiated maintenance, rental, and purchase of production equipment and services.

1989-1990 Seattle, WA

Event Services Coordinator - Pacific Northwest Theatre Associates 

Estimated and scheduled labor and logistics, specified production equipment, and designed lighting for corporate events throughout Western Washington.

1982-1985 Salt Lake City, UT

Technical Director / Stage Manager - Ririe Woodbury Dance Company

Supervised and designed lighting, and stage managed 10 Salt Lake City productions and 90 weeks of touring within the United States (including Alaska and Hawaii) and Southeast Asia, including the first performance by an American modern dance company in Guangzhou, China.

Studio and field production support (camera, audio, lighting, switching) for Anchorage, Alaska PBS affiliate.

Stage Manager - Anchorage Community College Performing Arts Center 

Production support for rental events and production equipment maintenance at 1,000 seat performing arts center shared by Anchorage Community College and University of Alaska, Anchorage.
